Dark Water

Photo series

The Dark Water series show the sea in an almost surreal approach. The actual motif, the cause of the turbulence and air bubbles, is erased from sight and only an abstraction, both chaotic and beautiful, is left. The air bubbles, with their icy white colour scattered in the vast black nothingness, are transformed into a sort of crystalline sculpture, a frozen moment in time of a natural phenomenon that already passed. They seem to come from nowhere as if they have created themselves to form a memorial for a fleeting moment in time. The series contains a clear differentiation between two aesthetics, bringing attention to the idea that “not every sea is the same” in each person’s consciousness.
